Large pirate glass, shark silhouette on silver pendant
Sterling silver and pirate sea glass, shark pendant. Handmade with recycled sterling silver and sea glass found on the shores of Torbay. I have used patina on the silver to give it a lovely rich black silver finish before I hand polished it.
This particular necklace comes on a sterling silver 18 inch necklace with a silver clasp.
I hand draw these little creatures, then I use a very fine saw to pierce out the silver from the back of the pendant. I love making these, as it gives you 2 ways of wearing it. You can have the seaglass with the silhouette of the shark shining through, or you can wear it the other way round with the silver cut out taking centre stage. The choice is yours.
Did you know that pirate glass appears black until it is held against a strong light. From the 1700s onwards this think glass was used to protect alcohol from breaking in the rough seas…Rumour has it that pirates were fond of a drink and therefore have probably drunk from the very bottles this seaglass is made from !
If you would like to know the exact dimensions of the piece or the sea glass size please feel free to message more information.
Each seaglass is a piece of history, crafted from genuine sea tumbled glass, bringing a touch of the ocean to you.
All settings are made with 100% recycled silver. I use Sterling silver and fine silver to set the seaglass on all my necklaces.
